Leadership Ascension project team Healthy Spaces for West Bank Faces received its final donation check to meet their goal of $50,000 to build a community park in Donaldsonville. The $10,000 donation was given by Zachary Group.

On Feb. 22, LSU Engineering students presented drawings to the leadership team and community members at The Church of Donaldsonville. The playground drawings were based on input from students at Donaldsonville Primary and Lowery Elementary, but also had some of the engineering students’ own concepts incorporated.

“This is the first time the students have done something like this, had a chance to actually interact with people who are going to be using this,” said LSU Engineering professor Bruce Sharky. “This is going to make a difference for them. They got inspired by your passion for what you feel for this place and trying to help the community deal with obesity, dealing with getting fresh air and some good healthy activities.”
