Central Primary School has selected its first employee of the month with its the awarding of the Horace Mann Insurance award to David Tapp.

Tapp, a Donaldsonville native and 1986 graduate of DHS, is a title one paraprofessional who has worked for Ascension Parish Schools for 18 years. The award is given to an employee who exhibits professionalism and a positive attitude - Tapp, who works carpool, said he focuses on always displaying both traits.

"I'm grateful and humbled for winning," Tapp said. "The parents say I'm friendly and positive - and I never miss work."

Around the same time Tapp was voted employee of the month, he was also awarded 'outstanding support staff'.

"The staff are wonderful people to work with," Tapp said. "I enjoy working there."

Tapp holds a Bachelor of Science degree in social work from Nicholls State University, and tutors all subjects in his spare time, when he is known as "Tapp the Tutor".
