Taking Pride

If you live in Donaldsonville, then you should take pride in Donaldsonville. Such a statement was put into action this past weekend as a couple took time out of their busy schedules to do just that. City Councilman Lauthaught Delaney, and his wife, District 1 School Board Representative, Robyn Penn Delaney, along with their grandson, Kyle Delaney, took to the streets to spruce up the landscape around town, by adding new flowers and refreshing the existing plants. Their work can be seen on Railroad Ave. and Mississippi St. What better way to say "Come to Donaldsonville" than seeing the welcome sign adorned with beautiful flowers. Thank you to the Delaney family for your contribution, dedication, and taking pride in your city.

Mother's Day

The Emmanuel Baptist Church held a Mother's Day Breakfast for the mothers of the church of 'Golden Girls status'. These lovely ladies began the event with a spirit filled and felt opening prayer by Sister Leslie Nicholas and they were then treated to an elaborate breakfast, gifts and a poem describing mothers. The event was a vision of Deaconess O. Connie Williams, who wanted to do something special for the mothers of the church. The ladies were gracious for the occasion, entertainment and food.

Day of Prayer

Donaldsonville Mayor Leroy Sullivan hosted an open invitation National Day of Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, May 5, at the Lemann Community Center in Donaldsonville. Prayer was rendered in the areas of repentance, family, government, nation, business, military, church, media and education. Mayor Sullivan did the closing remarks and gave special thanks to Traci Marquette for her dedication every year in the organization of the event.

Parent Committee

Parents gathered to hear information regarding school readiness goals and the transition process for their children attending the Pre-K program next year. Thanks to local business support, door prizes were given at the meeting - the lucky winners included Aaron Thomas, Dwayne Gauthier, Christine Sullivan, Ashley Thomas and Erin Rodrigue.
