During a special meeting held on Tuesday, May 31, the Donaldsonville City Council unanimously approved the appointment of Brent Landry as interim Councilman. Landry will assume the position for District 5 following the passing of Councilman Emile Spano.

The council granted SJB Group an additional 45 days in their contract for the Crescent Park project, along with a pay application in the amount of $48,456.65 for Acadian Commercial Contractors.

LDRC member Robyn Penn Delaney updated the council on recent projects. Delaney said in the past month, the committee has replaced flowers, added mulch and new planters around the city. The park benches at jazz park have also been restored. She added that Sheriff Jeff Wiley is allowing inmates to assist the city in various tasks such as sand blasting the kiosk at the ball park and pressure washing the Lemann Center.

Two ordinances were introduced, one regarding city employee vacation buy-backs and another to rename Belle Terre Drive to Belle Alliance Drive. Public hearings will be held for the ordinances on June 28.

The council voted for the city attorney to call in the owners of Chateau Apartments to show cause as to why they cannot control the excessive trash issue at the apartment complex.
