Paincourtville man arrested on narcotics charge
NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Dwain Mills, 49, of 229 St. Vincent Road, Paincourtville, on drug-related charges following a traffic stop early Tuesday morning near Paincourtville.
A Uniform Patrol Division Officer conducted a traffic stop on a 2012 Hyundai Elantra for a misdemeanor traffic violation.
The deputy identified Dwain Mills as a backseat passenger and determined that he was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in Assumption Parish. The deputy placed Mills under arrest and while conducting a pat down search, discovered a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana in a pants pocket.
The driver of the vehicle granted deputies permission to search the vehicle. Officers located and seized a digital scale in the center console containing suspected cocaine residue. Additionally, deputies seized a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.
After questioning Mills, he accepted responsibility for the scale and the cocaine.
Mills was arrested and booked on counts of:
*Possession of Cocaine
*Possession of Marijuana, a second offense felony
*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a third offense felony
Mills was booked into the parish jail pending a bond hearing.
