Council appoints members to Fire Civil Service Board

The Donaldsonville City Council appointed two new members to the Donaldsonville Fire Civil Service Board during the Nov. 22 council meeting. Ricky Lavadean was appointed the Citizens at Large position, a term that will expire in 2019, and Josh Comeaux was appointed as Fire Department Representative, which will expire in 2018.

A change order for Acadian Contractors was approved, extending their contract 89 days for the Crescent Park Project. A representative from the SJB Group said the completion date for the park is still scheduled for Nov. 27.

The council also approved five GSA invoices totaling to $14,762, two invoices from Southern Earth Sciences Inc. for the Levee Top Project totaling to $3,798 and two pay applications for Acadian Contractors totaling to $230,816.66. Additionally, a change order was approved for $68,050 to replace the lights on the median on Veterans Blvd.

An ordinance was approved allowing the Donaldsonville to incur the debt and issuance of $800,000 of Sales Tax Bonds for road improvements throughout the city. The loan will be for 10 years.

Mayor Leroy Sullivan gave an update concerning garbage pickup. He said the problems with waste pickup has been resolved. Bulky waste pickup will be on Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays.
