Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office makes narcotics arrests

Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Chadwick Landry, 44, of 1043 LA. 662, Bayou L’Ourse and Dionne Maria Mendoza, 50, of 126 Lejaunie Court, Bayou L’Ourse on drug charges after deputies responded to a minor one vehicle accident on LA. 662 in Bayou L’Ourse.
Investigating deputies observed Mendoza trying to drive a pickup truck out of the ditch. Deputies interviewed Mendoza concerning the accident. Based on the interview with Mendoza, a K-9 Unit was called to the scene. The K-9 conducted an open-air sweep of the pickup truck. Deputies searched the vehicle and located a quantity of meth-amphetamine.
Deputies also interviewed Landry who appeared on the scene. As a result of that interview, deputies seized a glass pipe from his possession of which contained suspected meth-amphetamine.
Both Mendoza and Landry were placed under arrest, transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center and booked on charges of Possession of Meth-Amphetamine
In addition, Landry was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
At the time of this arrest, Landry was on probation until 2020 for a prior felony conviction. Landry faces a probation revocation.
Both subjects remain in jail pending a bond hearing.
