The second grade classes of Ascension Catholic Primary School preformed “way of the cross” just before going on school break. Johnnie Viallon played Jesus. All of the students did an excellent job in playing their roles.

District 4 Mason Day

On Saturday, April 15 the Masons of District 4, which includes Donaldsonville, White Castle, Plaquemine, Thibodaux and Napoleonville, gathered at the Rosenwald School grounds for a day filled with an egg hunt, music, games, food and lots of fun. There were approximately 200 in attendance for this event. Special guest at the event included the Easter Bunny and Plaquemine High School Band.

The Tractor Store Opens

Donaldsonville welcomes the newest business to the area, the Tractor Store, held its grand opening with door prizes and discounts the entire day. Mr. Kevin Shifflet, store manager, said he is excited to be here and he looks forward to meeting everyone.

Ascension Head Start meeting

The Ascension Head Start held its April meeting at the B C Always Center. The patents attending won door prizes and gained valuable information on child abuse and child safety presented by the Donaldsonville Fire Department Association. The DFDA also sponsored the Easter egg hunt for the students.

Community leaders focus on child abuse awareness

At the  April Community leaders meeting the focus was on the awareness on child abuse. Leaders placed a blue pinwheel in representation of the many different forms of child abuse.


Rose Gravois, RN, and Co-Owner of Cardinal Hospice was the guest of Rotarian Casey Kennedy at this weeks meeting. She gave information on hospice care.
