Lange Named Principal of Donaldsonville Primary

Ascension Public Schools announces the appointment of Tennille Lange as Principal of Donaldsonville Primary School. Lange was introduced at the April 25 Ascension Parish School Board Meeting and will transition to the new position this summer as current Principal Mary McMahan becomes a district instructional supervisor.

"Dr. Lange has been in our school system for quite some time and has served our students well. We are so pleased she is going to step into the role and responsibility of principal and know she will do an outstanding job," said Superintendent David Alexander.

A native Marrero, Lange has been an educator since 2002. She taught in both the East Baton Rouge and Ascension parish school systems. In 2009, she became an instructional coach while working at the Ascension Parish Alternative School. She moved to Donaldsonville Primary in 2011 as the assistant principal, a position she currently holds.

"Thank you to Mrs. McMahan for giving me the chance five years ago to become the assistant principal of Donaldsonville Primary. It was quite a transition coming from the alternative school with 15- to 21-year-olds to working with four- to seven-year-olds, but I would not change it for the world. I love my little people," said Lange. "I am excited about this next chapter in my life." 

Lange earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master of education degree in administration and supervision from Southern University. She also earned a doctoral degree from Walden University after successfully defending her dissertation on the significant impact of social and emotional learning with potential high school dropouts.

She is the proud mother of 14-year-old Janelle and one-year-old Olivia Grace and is married to Emanuel Lange.
