Bikes with Lights
Jeffery Henry, owner of Jeff’s Bar and Lounge, invited the KANO bike riders to Donaldsonville to ride at night on their bikes with lights. The group alone with other riders started the route from Jeff’s on St. Patrick Street up to Vatican Street and returning to the starting point. It was a beautiful night to ride.
Special thanks to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office for escorting the group with lights to ensure everyone’s safety.
“This was something that had not been done here in Donaldsonville. We are looking forward to doing such community activities in the future,” said Henry. The event was free to everyone to participate. It was done just for FUN.
Ascension Head Start Graduation
The Ascension Head Start class of 2017 held its graduation ceremony in front of a standing room only auditorium. Smiles and tears could be seen all around. Proud parents, grandparents and family that came out to see their child move forward, and also facing the fact to reality that the child is growing up and moving forward to kindergarten. Each class preformed a musical rendition for the audience.
Everyone was very excited to see the students in their beautiful blue graduation gowns. Thanks to Lee Melancon for making it possible to acquire the funds needed to purchase the gowns.
Rotary News
Rotarians had the pleasure of hearing the story of the characters and whom they resemble as guest speaker Tommy Joffrion, retired State Trooper and now self published author, gave insight on his books “Return to Sender and Hurtful Truth.”
Some Rotarians said the characters were some of them, because things that happens in the book had also happened to them. If you want to know the rest of the story, then you have to buy the books. Donaldsonville Rotary Club meets every Thursdays at noon at Café’ Lafourche,817 Veterans Blvd, Donaldsonville, LA 70346.
