Donaldsonville man arrested for weapons violation

Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Jamal Christopher Dunn, 21, of 1401 Bryant Street, Donaldsonville, on charges related to a traffic stop early Tuesday morning.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on LA 1 near Bertrandville and executed a traffic stop. The deputy interviewed the driver identified as Jamal Christopher Dunn.

During the interview process, the deputy noted Dunn to be continuously placing his hands into his coat pockets. The deputy, in interest of violator and officer safety, secured Dunn in handcuffs and conducted a pat down search. The Deputy removed a large caliber handgun from Dunn’s pocket.

Dunn was placed under arrest, transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center and booked on charges of:

*Illegal Carrying of Weapons

*No Driver’s License on Person

*Impeding the Flow of Traffic

Dunn was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
