Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Decator Jake Crochet, 20, of 153 Elaine Street, Bayou L’Ourse on charges related to sex offender registration violations.

On or about November 17, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Offices initiated an investigation after receiving a complaint involving juveniles from a local school.

During the investigation, detectives determined that Decator Jake Crochet, a registered sex offender named in the original complaint had registered as residing at 153 Elaine Street, Bayou L’Ourse and reported as living alone.

Crochet’s original conviction occurred in St. Mary Parish in September of 2017 and was for Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile. As a result of that conviction, restrictions were placed on Crochet prohibiting him from residing with anyone under the age of 18.

This investigation did determine that Crochet was in fact living with a female and three minor children at the Bayou L’Ourse address. Crochet failed to disclose that information during sex offender registration. Detectives also determined that Crochet resided with the children before and after his registration process.

Crochet was arrested on a probation and parole warrant on November 17, 2017. Detectives also charged Crochet with:

*Failure to Register or Notify as a Convicted Sex Offender or Child Predator

Crochet was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing. Crochet also faces a possible probation / parole revocation.
