Arrests made for January burglary involving guns

Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Kelton Smith, 20, of 250 Murial Street, Bayou L’Ourse, La., on charges related to a residential burglary on Rudy Drive, Pierre Part, La., on January 17, 2017.

It was reported that several guns had been stolen and at least two suspects fled on foot, but at the time could not be identified.

Through investigation, detectives were able to identify a juvenile as well as Kelton Smith as being the two individuals leaving the residence.

A third suspect identified as Allen Landry, 17, of Pierre Part was also identified as a suspect and was charged at the time. Landry was also charged at the time with a prior theft count valued under $750 from the same residence

Arrest warrants were filed against Kelton Smith shortly after the incident. Kelton Smith was transferred from Concordia Parish to the Assumption Parish Detention Center on Monday, December 4. He was booked on charges of:

*Aggravated Burglary

*Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

His bond was set at $40,000.
