Assumption deputies arrest two Donaldsonville men on drug violations

Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrests of Joseph M. Brown, 30, of 929 Elizabeth Street, Donaldsonville, La. and Zachary Dwayne Henry, Jr., 32, of 722 St. Vincent Street, Donaldsonville, La., on drug related counts related to a traffic stop.

A deputy on patrol observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and proceeded to stop the vehicle.

The driver was identified as Joseph M. Brown. The deputy noticed a strong smell of suspected marijuana coming from the vehicle. The deputy called for a K-9 unit to assist. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to several areas of the vehicle.

Deputies did search the vehicle and seized a quantity of suspected marijuana as well as assorted paraphernalia.

Based on that search, deputies did arrest Brown and Henry. Both suspects were transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center and booked as follows:

Joseph M. Brown –

*No Driver’s License

*Expired License Plate

*Failure to Signal a Turn

*Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

*Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute

Zachary Dwayne Henry –

*Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute

Both suspects remain incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
