Ascension Parish honors ACHS Lady Power Lifters State Champs

At the April 5 Ascension Parish Council meeting, President Kenny Matassa proclaimed March 15, 2018 to be Ascension Catholic Girls Powerlifting Team 2018 State Champions Day. Lani Lemann, Madison Tripode, Nydia Cooper, Dakota Bonadona, Catherine Rome, Layne Melancon, Rodneika Mitchell, Marie Ceily Grisaffe, Julia Camille Lemann, Hannah Settoon are members of the 2017-2018 Ascension Catholic High School Girls Powerlifting team; and Jalyn Moll is Head Coach, Robert “ Bubba” Lemann is Assistant Coach, the Wrapper is John Demanuel, and Victoria Eure and Whitney Eure serve as Statisticians.
At the Division V State competition, held March 15, 2018 at the Rapides Parish Coliseum in Alexandria the team won the Division V State Championship. This is the 4th consecutive and 5th overall Division V State Championship for the Ascension Catholic Girls team, which now has won more Division V titles than any other school in the state. Six team members - Lani Lemann, Hannah Settoon, Dakota Bonadona, Marie Ceily Grisaffe, Julia Camille Lemann, and Nydia Cooper - finished in 1st place; Madison Tripode finished in 2nd place; and Catherine Rome finished in 3rd place in their respective weight classes. Camille Lemann won Division V Most Outstanding Lifter in the Lightweight Class, and Nydia Cooper won Division V Most Outstanding Lifter in the Heavyweight Class.
