Ascension Head Start congratulates Ascending Stars

Ascension Head Start in Donaldsonville celebrating the graduating class of Ascending Stars at ceremonies on Monday and Tuesday. Friends and family filled the auditorium as the students performed before receiving their certificates.
Mayor Leroy Sullivan was on hand for the events with words of wisdom for parents. He talked about the little ones’ dreams for their futures, some wanting to be doctors or lawyers and others who just wanted to be like their parents. He said no matter what the children want at this young age, it’s important for all of their role models to support them in their dreams.
Teachers echoed that sentiment, saying it takes good role models to make sure these kids reach their potential. School leaders called on parents to set an example for their children, not only through their words but through their actions. This graduation is not the end; it's only the beginning. Through the support of family, friends, teachers, and the community, the 2018 Ascension Head Start graduating class will become the high school class of 2033.
Each class performed for parents in the audience. Some sang and danced, while others recited poems. The final act included a performance from the Lowery Middle School band and dance team. It was a huge celebration for the little ones who will enter kindergarten in the fall.
