Crime Stoppers tip leads to arrest of Donaldsonville man

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Bobby Webre reports the arrest of 22-year-old Ronya Jones on Friday, August 10, after deputies received an anonymous tip leading to his location.
Jones was wanted for questioning in an attempted homicide that occurred on Thursday morning, August 9. Deputies responded to Oak Villa apartments in Donaldsonville in reference to shots being fired at a vehicle where no one was injured.
As the investigation continued, it was learned that Jones had an argument with an acquaintance and began firing shots as the acquaintance left the scene in a vehicle. Jones ran to a nearby residence but fled the scene upon deputies’ arrival.
Jones is being charged with illegal use of weapons, illegal carrying of weapons, simple criminal damage to property, attempted second-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.
He will be booked into the Ascension Parish Jail awaiting bond.
