Ascension Parish COVID-19 vaccine tracker: 39 percent fully vaccinated

Some 39 percent of people living in Ascension Parish are fully vaccinated as of Aug. 17, according to data from the the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention considers someone fully vaccinated two weeks after they've been given a single-dose shot (Johnson & Johnson) or a second shot (either Pfizer or Moderna).

Louisiana reported 631,837 total cases of coronavirus, an increase of 6% from the week before.

The five parishes with the highest percentage of their population fully vaccinated in Louisiana as of Aug. 17 are Orleans Parish (54%), West Feliciana Parish (52%), Jefferson Parish (50%), East Feliciana Parish (45%) and St. Tammany Parish (44%).
