Napoleonville man sentenced for attempted murder

Judge Thomas J. Kliebert sentenceded Aquendius Landry, 29, 3355 La. 1, Napoleonville, to fifty years at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence for the attempted second degree murder of Anya Ewell of Belle Rose, according to District Attorney Anthony Falterman.

A 12 member Assumption Parish Jury deliberated 27 minutes before voting unanimously to convict Landry of trying to kill Ewell Dec. 20, 2007.

Aquendius Landry and Lamartina Landry were arrest on September 26, 2006 after they drove the victim, Aquendius Landry's ex-girlfiend, to a remote section of Hardtime Road in Napoleonville where she was doused with gasoline and was set on fire twice.

This case was prosecuted by assistant district attorney Thomas D. Daigle, Tim Barbier represented the defendant in this case.
