Woman, son killed in Assumption car crash

A Baton Rouge mother and son died this past weekend in northern Assumption Parish, according to a Troop C State Police news release.

The crash occurred at about 9 p.m. Friday on La. 70 near Brule Moran Road between Spur 70 and La. 3127.

Richard A. Bond, 23, of Baton Rouge was westbound on La. 70 in a  2004 black Chevrolet truck when he crossed the centerline and began traveling in the eastbound lane, according to the release.

The truck then struck a 2006 Dodge Durango occupied by Kelly M. Buggage, 32, and her 12-year-old son, Nathaniel Buggage III. An unidentified 7-year-old boy was also in the vehicle.

Nathaniel Buggage died at the scene, and Kelly Buggage was transported to Prevost Hospital in Donaldsonville by Acadian Ambulance where she later died.

The 7-year-old received moderate injuries and was transported to Assumption Community Hospital in Napoleonville by Acadian Ambulance.

Bond, who was the only occupant in his vehicle, was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center  in Baton Rouge with moderate injuries by Acadian Ambulance.

Alcohol and drug use are unknown at this time; however, blood tests are pending analysis. Charges in the crash are pending upon the completion of the investigation, according to the release.
