Pierre Part man arrested on drug charges

The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a Pierre Part man on drug and firearms counts after investigating drug distribution activities at his home, deputies said Tuesday.

Steven P. Landry, 30, 2958 La. 70, Pierre Part, was arrested Sunday and booked on counts of possession with intent to distribute both Opana, a painkiller, and Xanax, an anti-anxiety drug, deputies said in a news release Tuesday.

Landry also was booked with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of firearms in the presence of controlled dangerous substances, deputies said.

Members of the sheriff’s narcotics task force searched Landry’s home early Sunday and found narcotics, $2,011, a  rifle and a shotgun, deputies  said.

As of early Tuesday, Landry awaited his bail to be set. He was held in the Assumption Parish Detention Center in Napoleonville, deputies said.
