Searching for Vehicle of Interest

Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeffrey Wiley is asking for the public's

assistance in solving a June 27, 2011 homicide that occurred at a home

in Astroland Subdivision in Darrow.

Ascension authorities responded to the call at 39068 Venus Street in the

Subdivision after the body of nineteen year old Darin Keith Smylie was

found in the home shot to death.

Authorities are searching for a vehicle that was seen leaving the

victim's home between the hours of 2 and 3 pm. The vehicle is described

as a 1994 to 2004 Chevy S-10 or GMC Sonoma extended cab truck, white in

color, similar to the one shown in the pictures. Additionally, a witness

describes the truck as having a dark colored pen stripe down the side,

located above the black molding. The rear and side windows are tinted.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Ascension Parish

225-344-STOP (7867).  A $1000 reward is being offered by the Ascension

Parish Sheriff's Office for any information that leads to the arrest of

the person responsible for the murder.
