Ascension Parish Chief Deputy Tony Bacala is asking for the public's assistance in locating one assailant and identifying a group of others that are responsible for stealing baby formula local supermarkets.

Two of the local supermarkets have been victimized by a group of women stealing cases of baby formula from inside of the stores. There was an attempt of a third local supermarket that was foiled. Between the two supermarkets the monetary value is nearly $1000.

During the course of the investigation Ascension Parish Detectives identified one of the suspects as Cynthia Marie Johnson, 43, of 4702 Lavey Lane Baker, Louisiana. She is wanted by Ascension Parish detectives in connection with the baby formula theft from one of the local supermarkets, Bacala said.

Ascension Parish authorities are working a joint investigation with surrounding jurisdictions in order to identify the others in the group. Supermarkets in neighboring jurisdictions have also been victimized by the same group.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office at 225-621-INFO (4636) or Crime Stoppers at 225-344-STOP (7867).
