Breaking News: Accident at St. Amant Middle School
At 12:29 p.m., a 911 call was received indicating that a person had been electrocuted at St. Amant Middle School. When deputies arrived, Fire Department EMS personnel were on scene performing CPR on the victim. The victim was then transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance.
The victim, 44 year old Micheal Chaplin, of 9125 Peony St., Newport Richey, Florida was employed by a contract company, Peach Tree Protective Covers, building a covered walkway at the school. According to witnesses, Chaplin was working from an elevated position and was handed a piece of meal from an employee on the ground. As Chaplin was handling the piece of metal, it came in contact with an electric line causing the electrocution.
As of 2:46 p.m., Chaplin is listed in critical condition.
