CONVICTED FELON ARRESTED FOR BEING IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM AND NARCOTICS

On the evening of July 5, 2012, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force while conducting surveillance and patrols in the Paincourtville Community stopped to question a male subject loitering in a public roadway (Crossover Road). The subject threw a handgun after a uniformed agent activated the lights of his vehicle and exited the vehicle while in full uniform. After a short foot chase, the subject was apprehended and found to be possession of marijuana and three rounds in magazine for the handgun which was located in his pants pockets. The gun recovered is a 40 caliber, high point semi-automatic handgun.

Agents identified the male subject as Justin Fair, age 29, of 171 Miles Street, Paincourtville.

Fair, who is a convicted felon (Drug Convictions), was transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center, where he is currently being held. He has been charged with the following: Loitering, Resisting an Officer, Possession of Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substances (Marijuana—4th Offense), Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of CDS.
