BAYOU L’OURSE - Sheriff Mike Waguespack reports that on Monday, May 26, 2014 at approximately 4:07 a.m., the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from 173 Felicia Street, Bayou L’Ourse, La. about someone inside the residence.  A preliminary investigation indicates the suspect, William S. Powers, Jr., 32-year-old W/M of 170 Felicia Street, Bayou L’Ourse, La. entered the unlocked residence.  He then entered the master bedroom where victim (1), Mark Massoletti, 52-year-old W/M, was in bed asleep with his girlfriend and attacked him.  His girlfriend awoke, ran to get help from Mark’s son, victim (2), Micheal Massoletti, 23-year-old W/M, who was asleep with his wife in another bedroom.  The wife of Micheal was able to flee the residence and ran to a neighbor’s house and called 911 a second time.  While she fled the residence, an on-going struggle ensued between Mark’s girlfriend and his son with the suspect.  After killing father and son, Powers then took his own life with what appears to be a small caliber rifle.  The two females were later sent to a local hospital for minor injuries and are expected to be released later today.

The three deceased individuals are being sent to the Orleans Parish Coroner’s office today and autopsies are scheduled to be performed Tuesday morning.  Both deceased victims appear to have suffered from multiple cuts and lacerations but actual cause of death will be determined upon completion of the autopsies.
