During the convention, over 1000 Louisiana FFA members and guests had the opportunity to hear keynote speakers including Zach Kinne, National FFA President, Burl Cain, Warden of the Louisiana State Penitentiary, Dr. Mike Strain, Commissioner of Agriculture, and motivational speaker Justin Lookadoo.
The four-day event was filled with recognition and award presentations for members and chapters who excelled in some phase of the Agriscience program throughout the past year.
Convention activities also included business sessions, committee meetings, leadership workshops, a career show, and the election and installation of the 2008-2009 state officers.
Between and after sessions, DHS members conducted business of their own and took time for a little fun at Pecanland Mall and Holiday Inn attractions including outdoor and indoor swimming pools. The group also visited the campus of the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
Donaldsonville High School was well and proudly represented. The FFA is an organization for students enrolled in Agriscience courses.
