Senator Brown hosts weekend of celebrations for area basketball teams
Napoleonville - Senator Troy Brown celebrated student-athlete excellence on May 3 and May 4 by hosting two events to commemorate recent stellar performances by St. James and Donaldsonville High Schools during the statewide boys’ high school basketball semifinals.
The St. James High School boys’ basketball team traveled to the state semifinals on March 13 with a second place district finish. Donaldsonville High School played in the semifinals on March 13 where they participated in the 2014 LHSAA-State Farm Basketball Top 28 Marsh Madness competition.
The celebrations for St. James and Donaldsonville took place on Saturday May 3 and Sunday May 4 respectively, and included complimentary boiled crawfish, jambalaya, drinks and music provided by a DJ. The St. James celebration took place at the St. James Parish Reception Hall. The Donaldsonville celebration took place at the Frank Sotile Pavilion in Donaldsonville.
Senator Brown presented both teams and staff members with a framed Senate Commendation and Interim Resolution to commemorate their performances during the season.
"I commend and congratulate our kids for such a monumental accomplishment this year,” Brown said. “ This is what they play to achieve, and they definitely did great this year."
