The Faithful City
Mayor Leroy Sullivan hosted his annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on May 1, the National Day of Prayer.
National Day of Prayer Coordinator, Tracy Marquette, opened the ceremony and said the breakfast was a dedication to the city.
Lead Pastor Fitzpatrick Pitts presented the charge to those in attendance, but first he thanked the mayor for being a “strong leader and being a man of God leading a city who needs God.”
Rev. Pitts used the subject, “The Faithful City” coming from the scripture Isaiah 1:24-26.
He said when the news comes on it talks about Donaldsonville negatively, but that’s not what he sees in the city.
“When I'm here I see the power of God working in a community,” Rev. Pitts said.
The audience was filled with faces such as: Parish President Tommy Martinez, Moose Pierce, Mert Smiley, Roy Quezaire, and city councilman Charles Brown, Sr., Raymond Aucoin, Emile Spano, and Reginald Francis.
Mayor Sullivan closed with remarks, thanks Marquette for “another beautiful job.”
“I'm very appreciative for her,” he said.
