Dwayne Bailey Announces Candidacy for Ascension Parish School Board

Dwayne Bailey announced his candidacy for Ascension Parish School Board District 1. Bailey vows to be a voice that allows the community's concerns to be heard. Bailey stated he shall focus on parents and pupils -not politics. As your school board member, I promise to be strong yet fair when performing the duties of a school board member with complete transparency. I pledge to be sensitive to the needs of all our public, private, and parochial students that receive resources from Ascension Parish Schools. There will be no student, parent, church, community organization, community leader, business organization or elected official that will not be asked to join in our community coalition to turn our schools around in District 1. Bailey, as a Regional Prevention Coordinator for the State of Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, acquired several national trainings, He is a national Trainer of Trainers in Community Building and Health and Violence Prevention. Bailey is a Federal and State contract monitor and grant writer. Bailey was appointed by the Governor of State of Louisiana to the Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities where he served on the Executive Board. He has served as Executive Director of the Donaldsonville Community Health Coalition, Member of Donaldsonville Industrial Board, Member of Shell/Motiva Diversity Committee, as well as Faith Christian Center Board Member. He has served as Donaldsonville High School Band Booster Club President. Also he has coached little baseball and basketball in the community. Bailey's prior political campaigns include U.S. Congress District no. 2 third place only Ascension resident historically to run for Congress, State Representative District no. 58 - Run off finish, Ascension Parish School Board District no. 1 - second place. Bailey is a graduate of Donaldsonville High School and Southern University of Baton Rouge earning a Bachelor’s Broadcast Journalism. Bailey works at Shell/Motiva Convent, LA. He is married to Donna Bailey they have two sons Brandon and Baraxton Bailey.
