Interment was held at Emmanuel Baptist Church Cemetery in Donaldsonville. He is survived by his wife Cynthia North Monroe, two sons: Tony Monroe and Aaron Monroe. Father, Joseph Monroe, five sisters: Eloise Monroe Jarvis, Ida Monroe, Anita Monroe Bradley, Marilyn Monroe, all of Donaldsonville, and Veronica Rose Monroe of Las Vegas. Two brothers: Vaughn and Richard Monroe of Donaldsonville. A devoted cousin, Silas Nicholas. Three aunts: Cecilia Nicholas Causey (Ulysses Causey), Louise Nicholas, and Florida Mae Nicholas. Two uncles: Clifford Monroe of Killeen, Texas, Royal Nicholas (Irene Nicholas) of Colorado. Six sister-in-laws: Gloria Haynes, Corrine North, Passie North, Helen Thomas, Denise Williams, all of Donaldsonville, and Delores Preston (Donald Preston) of Baton Rouge. Two brothers-in-law: Leonard and Peter North, both of Donaldsonville. Godchildren: Jeffery D. Collins (J.D.), Richard Bradley Jr., Jonquil Monroe, and Ronnie Jarvis. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, a great nephew, relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Jessie Mae Nicholas Monroe, maternal and paternal grandparents, uncles, aunts, mother-in-law, father-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
