Obit: Darcie "Dot" Lee Artigue Nettles

Darcie “Dot” Lee Artigue Nettles, age 81, died at her home in Donaldsonville on Thursday, May 24, 2012. 

She was born March 26, 1931 in Leonville, Louisiana.  “Dot” worked at Carp’s Department Store and then at Lemann’s Department Store in Donaldsonville for many years as a sales clerk.  She was a member of the Ascension Catholic Church Choir, a Eucharistic minister, participated in Small Faith Sharing Groups with the Ascension Catholic Church, served as treasurer for the American Legion in Donaldsonville, belonged to the Pink Ladies Organization of Prevost Hospital, and spent many hours making rosaries for those in need and for the many missions sponsored by the Catholic Church.

Preceded in death by her husband Alton Nettles Jr.; parents Adea Lanclos Artigue and Jules Artigue.

She is survived by two sons Ronald Joseph Nettles and his wife Marion Roque Nettles and Karl Matthew Nettles and his wife Deborah Granier Nettles; five grandchildren Sally Braud and husband Martin of Philadelphia, PA, Bess Melancon and husband Clinton of St. Amant,  Willie Nettles of Baton Rouge, Karl Nettles Jr. of Dallas, TX, and John Nettles of Baton Rouge; six great-grandchildren Cecilia, Jacob, and Jill Braud and Wes, Jax, and Maddox Melancon; sister Eula May Artigue Woodson; niece Connie Hardy; great-nephew Todd Hardy and wife Michelle; two great-neices Paula Hardy and Stacie Price; three great-great-nephews Cody, Colton, and Blake; great-great-niece Megan.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church of Donaldsonville from 9:00 A.M. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M.  Officiated by Rev. Paul Yi.  Interment followed in Roselawn Memorial Park of Baton Rouge.

In Lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to a favorite charity or organization in her name.
