Armstead, Jr., Cleveland “Nippy Jones”

Cleveland “Nippy Jones” Armstead, Jr., a resident and native of Donaldsonville and former resident of Georgiana, Alabama, passed away at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 7:48 a.m. He was a retired custodian with Ford Motors.

Visitation was at Demby & Son Funeral Home in Donaldsonville on Monday February 11, 2013 from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Willie Ford. Interment was in the Donaldsonville Protestant Cemetery.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Burnice Armstead of Georgiana, Ala. Two daughters; Virginia Armstead Jones of Pittsburg, Pa., and Doretha Jackson of Gasden, Ala. Two sons; Lawrence Armstead and Lawrence Moore of Detroit, Michigan. Two sisters; Rhonda Knockum and Marienetta “PI” Williams, both of Donaldsonville. A brother, James Armstead. An aunt, Evelyn (Emmit) Lawson of Donaldsonville. Twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents; Cleveland Armstead, Sr. and Sadie Dright Armstead.
