Letter from the Editor: Happy Father's Day

Allison B. Hudson

Father’s day is celebrated the third Sunday of June each year to honor our father’s. If your father is living, it is important to tell him how much he matters and how much you love him. If deceased, it is a time of reflection of how he was and the good times spent with him while on earth.

Whether you consider your father to have been an outstanding father or a less-than-desirable one, there is a bond between father and child that has rarely been captured in words.

Thinking back from a child, my dad has taught me so much in life, and I owe him thanks for always being there at my side. When thinking of my dad, I always reflect on this quote:

It's only when you grow up, and step back from him, or leave him for your own career and your own home—it's only then that you can measure his greatness and fully appreciate it. Pride reinforces love. -Margaret Truman

During most of the lessons my dad attempted to give me went unappreciated at the time, but now looking back, I can only admit that I would not be the woman I am without the leadership of my dad; the greatest man in the world!

So this Sunday, take time to honor your father and appreciate each moment with him!

Happy Father’s Day to all the Father’s out there!
