Lady Bulldogs cruise by Hanson to advance to state tournament

Allison Falcon’s double started things for the Lady Bulldogs in the bottom half. Annie Ourso followed with a triple to plate a run before Alayna Falcon drew a walk off Sonnier and Bailey Landry’s single crossed two more runs.

Grisaffe struckout the side in the second inning and Ascension Catholic went back to work with their bats. Maggie Schexnaydre led off the inning with a single before Nancy Guillot reached on an error one out later and Anna Lassere and Allison Falcon’s consecutive doubles plated runs.

Landry drew a walk off reliever Dacia Collette to open the bottom of the third and Schexnayder lined a double to center to plate a run one out later. Guillot’s groundout to short crossed another to reflect the final tally.

The Lady Bulldogs threatened in the fifth inning when Landry beat out a grounder and Aimee Guillot lined to left but runners were left stranded after a force out at home.

Ascension’s Catholic’s Ashlyn Grisaffe delivers a pitch in the Lady Bulldogs’ 8-1 Class 1A regional playoff victory over Hanson Memorial Saturday afternoon. Grisaffe got the win allowing one run on four hits while striking out 11 in seven innings.
