The Ascension Catholic Bulldogs claimed their first win of the season with a convincing 34-16 victory over the East Iberville Tigers in St. Gabriel.

Both teams traded touchdowns in the first half with ACHS taking control in the second half behind Sophomore Wade Baileys' 169 yards and two touchdowns.  Bailey carried eight times with touchdown runs of 56 and 60 yards.  Freshmen quarterback DJ Latino ran and passed for a score as well.

Junior receiver Taylor Landry was on the receiving end of that touchdown from Latino.  Junior quarterback Collin Rowland, who rotated series with Latino, had a touchdown as well.  The Bulldogs rolled up over 300 yards of offense and capitalized on turnovers by the Tigers and good field position.

The defense pitched a shut out in the second half and made several nice plays to stop drives by East Iberville.  ACHS improved to 1-0 in District 8A and will play White Castle, who beat St. John 49-24, this Friday at Floyd Boutte Memorial stadium.  This game will be Homecoming for ACHS and the Bulldogs would like for alumni and fans to come join the Homecoming celebration.  Coach Rick Bolotte was pleased with his team's performance, he noted that as many as five freshmen were on the defensive side of the ball during the game.  Coach Bolotte feels like his team will battle a very talented White Castle team and play hard in the remaining four games.  Coach Bolotte noted that with the amount of underclassmen that are getting playing time, this will create more depth on his team.  Coach also noted that his seniors have shown leadership despite so many injuries this season.  Follow ACHS on KKAY 1590 AM and at with the pregame to start at 6:45 p.m. this Friday versus White Castle.
