East Feliciana tops DHS

No. 5 Donaldsonville lost to No. 10 East Feliciana in a close call 25-22 on last Friday.

Kendall Beckwith led the pack of East Feliciana Tigers who managed a total of 98 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

The DHS Tigers recorded a total of 132 yards and two touchdowns by running back Tre’ Brown.

East Feliciana took the lead in the second quarter but on the DHS Tigers next drive

Shaquille Babin rushed up the middle from 4 yards out and then carried the ball around the right side on the successful two-point conversion and retook the lead of 14-13.

In the second half of the game, Donaldsonville could not get back in the groove of things. Quarterback Devon Breaux was intercepted by East Feliciana and the EFHS Tigers scored, which brought the score 25-22, East Feliciana.

“I liked the way we fought to the end,” said Donaldsonville coach Terence Williams. “We were outmanned at every position but our guys fought.”

In addition to the game, Donaldsonville honored Breast Cancer Awareness Month by sporting t-shirts and other pink gear to recognize survivors. Before the game, Coach Williams honored his mother, a breast cancer survivor at mid-field during the coin-toss. During halftime, several survivors were honored with pink balloons. The field also sported a look of pink ribbons throughout the field and the 50-yard-line outlined in pink spray paint.

Not only did the team wear pink, Tiger fans sported “Paint the Town Pink” t-shirts throughout Floyd Boutte Memorial Stadium last Friday night.
