Episcopal High School won the boys division track meet with 128 points last Tuesday evening. Donaldsonville, East Feliciana, Welsh, and University all came out in the top five.

The girls division was a little different. Donaldsonville won the 4x400 relay to edge Episcopal 87-84 for the team title. University, Ville Platte, and Anacoco took the top five.

The top three finishers in each event advance to the 2011 State Farm/Louisiana High School Athletic Association Outdoor State Championship Meet on May 6 at LSU.

“Last week was our first district title for girls and this week is our first regional title,” Donaldsonville coach Trent Ellis said. “It really does mean a lot. Most of this team is made up of girls who are sophomores and below.

“They’re really bought into what we’re trying to do and this is an important step for the program.”

Devon Breaux was awared the Outstanding Field Performer, and Ka’lynn Jupiter was a double winner for the Donaldsonville girls, winning the 100 hurdles (15.11 seconds) and the 300 hurdles (46.39). She also was second in the triple jump.
