ACHS finishes spring on a positive note

Head Coach Rick Bolotte and the Ascension Catholic Bulldogs completed their Spring Practice on a positive note with no major injuries and some excitement heading into 2011.  According to Coach Bolotte, the Bulldogs practiced with a purpose and showed improvement. 

The Bulldogs district will include 2010 State champion White Castle, West St John, East Iberville, St John and newly formed Ascension Christian.  On the offensive side of the ball, the Dogs return Senior Collin Rowland and Sophomore D.J. Latino at QB.  Rowland will be attending several camps this summer to prepare for his senior year and Latino showed some promise as a freshmen last season. 

Several players including Seniors Robert Landry, Taylor Landry and Taylor Tripode will man the running back position.  Also in the mix is Junior Thomas Gros, plus Sophomores Seville Jacks and Kenneth Dominique.  Freshmen Jaquil Wade will battle for playing time as well. The receiving corp will be experienced with Seniors Taylor Landry, Alex Olivier, Jake Lejeune, Robert Landry plus Junior Thomas Gros.  Junior Tight End Matt Reed returns with newcomer Delmond Landry, a freshman.  The offensive line should be strong with Seniors Ryan Rodrigue, Nick Ourso, Kyle Schexnayder and Blaine Falsetta.  Juniors Alex Sotile and Mason Matirne will be in the mix as well.  Sophomores Luke Albarado, Dillon Blanchard and Sam Mattingly will play key roles on the line. Freshmen James Martin will battle for playing time,

On Defense, the Bulldogs return several starters in Defensive linemen Ryan Rodrigue, Senior LB Trent Burgess, LB Taylor Landry, LB Alex Olivier, DB's Jake Lejeune and Robert Landry.  Middle Linebacker Blane Falsetta returns as a leader of the defense.  Sophomore Grant Rosseau returns in the secondary after starting as a freshman.  Newcomers on defense include Def Linemen Matt Reed, Freshmen Delmond Landry, Junior Alex Sotile and Mason Matirne plus Senior Kyle Schexnayder.  D.J Latino will play linebacker in the Dogs 4-3 alignment. Sophomore Kenneth Dominique will play linebacker along with Sophomore Seville Jacks. Newcomers in the secondary include Collin Rowland and Freshmen Jaquil Wade.

The Bulldogs will play non-district games against Hanson, Ascension Episcopal, Episcopal, False River and Central Catholic of Morgan City.
