FIrst in Print: 007’s bring home the championship title

Staff reports

The Red Stick Sports 007’s 12U team had a very successful time at the USSSA World Series held in Orlando, Florida, during the week of July 23 to 30 at the Disney/ESPN Wide World of Sports complex.  The 007’s played as a complete team in dominating their 12U bracket comprised of 66 teams from around the country in going undefeated for the week and capturing the title of USSSA World Champs for the 2011 season!!

The girls were totally focused as they plowed through teams from Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, New Mexico and Kentucky.  They went 9-0-1 for the week by scoring a total of 64 runs and holding their opponents to a total of only 18.  The championship game pitted the 007’s versus the Central Kentucky Bat Cats (a defending National Champion) and went into extra innings with the 007’s taking the victory by a score of 2 to 1.

Each girl contributed in their own way with aggressive defensive plays, tremendous pitching and timely batting.    Tournament coaches voted ace pitcher Kourtney Gremillion and first baseman Mackenzie Andrews on the All Tournament Team.  Each player on the team played a role in these individual honors!!  It took all eleven girls to get us to the point where “our dreams did come true!”

The team was coached this year by Head Coach Nicole Patino Dufour and her assistants Noel King and Paul Dufour.  For the entire season the team had a combined record of 109 victories, 20 losses, and five ties.

Double-O…..You Know!!!!  7’s!!!
