ACHS Settle for a Tie in Jamboree

The ACHS Bulldogs opened the 2011 season at the All Catholic Jamboree at Redemptorist, the result was a 6-6 tie with CHSPC.  In spite of not winning the game, which doesn’t count toward your win/loss record, Coach Rick Bolotte was pleased with his team’s performance. 

Bolotte stated, “I was impressed with the way our defense kept their spread offense out of the end zone.”

 “We went on a long drive in the first half and got into the end zone, our offense had some chances in the second half, but didn’t capitalize.”

 “We played physical up front, the biggest challenge is to get this team to realize that it can play and must play to the last whistle.”  Bolotte added “I like the direction of our team and we have a chance to win some games if our attitude remains positive.”  The Bulldogs took the opening kickoff and marched 87 yards to pay dirt, the drive took 11 minutes off of the clock.  The drive was highlighted with nice runs by Freshmen Patrick Butler, Senior Taylor Landry and Junior Thomas Gros.  Senior quarterback Collin Rowland connected with Senior Jake Lejeune on big fourth down conversion.  Rowland ended the drive with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Senior wide receiver PJ Callegan.  The dogs led 6-0 after the extra point was blocked.  The Bulldogs forced CHSPC to punt on its first possession of the second half, Sophomore Kenneth Dominique broke through and blocked the punt.  The Bulldogs wasted the opportunity as the drive ended with an interception.

The Bulldog defense pressured CHSPC throughout the night with Senior Ryan Rodrigue, Freshmen Delmond Landry and Senior Trent Burgess recording sacks.  Sophomore defensive back Grant Rosseau had an interception in thesecond half.  ACHS had a chance to run out the clock but were forced to punt with 44 seconds left in the game.  Thomas Camper of CHSPC took the punt at his own 20-yard line and ran past the Bulldogs for an 80-yard punt return.  The Hornets attempted a 2-point conversion, but ACHS defended it and the score was 6-6.   Rowland threw a last second hail mary that was intercepted to end the Jamboree.  The Bulldogs begin the regular season on the road at Hanson in Franklin on Friday September 2 at 7p.m.
