ACHS Bulldogs notch first win of the Season

The Ascension Catholic Bulldogs used a suffocating defense and a quick strike offense to notch there first win of the season, 28-3 over the False River Gators.  The Bulldogs scored 14 points in the first quarter after spotting the Gators a field goal on their first drive.

The Bulldogs led 14-3 after the first quarter as Senior quarterback Collin Rowland threw two touchdown passes, 23 yards to Senior wide receiver Jake Lejeune and 10 yards to Senior Robert Landry.  In the second quarter, ACHS added a touchdown when Rowland found Senior wide receiver Alex Olivier on a seam route for 55 yards.  The Dogs led 22-3 at the half.

The third quarter passed with no scoring and ACHS hit pay dirt again in the fourth quarter as Rowland kept for a five yard touchdown run.  The ACHS Offense put up 292 total yards with Rowland going 13-21 for 184 yards.  Olivier, Lejeune and Landry led the receiving corps.  The Bulldogs rushed for 108 yards led by Sophomore Kenneth Dominique and Freshmen Patrick Butler. 

The Bulldog Defense was able to hold the Gators out of the end zone and they finished with 206 total yards.  Senior line backer Blane Falsetta recovered two fumbles, the defense forced six turnovers.  Freshmen Delmond Landry recorded 1.5 sacks and Senior Ryan Rodrigue had several tackles behind the line.  Lejeune recorded an interception for ACHS and led the secondary with tackles.

ACHS moves to 1-2 on the season and the Gators dropped to 2-1.  ACHS will travel to Ascension Episcopal on Friday, coverage on KKAY 1590 AM begins at 6:45 pm.
