Bulldogs fall to Central Catholic

The Ascension Catholic Bulldogs lost their last non-district game to Central Catholic of Morgan City 48-6 in Morgan City.  The Bulldogs came out fired up as they drove the field on their first possession with the big play coming from a 44-yard reception by Senior Jake Lejeune from Senior quarterback Collin Rowland.  The Dogs were stopped on four downs inside the five and Central Catholic scored on a 99 yard rushing touchdown on their first play from scrimmage. 

The Eagles were ranked 5 in Class A coming into the game and showed why with a 27-0 halftime lead.  Ascension Catholic would mount a couple of more drives during the game but did not score until the one minute mark in the fourth quarter.  Rowland connected with Senior PJ Callegan for a 31-yard touchdown pass.  Rowland threw for 149 yards and the Bulldogs found it tough on the ground with 72 yards.  Senior Defensive Lineman Ryan Rodrigue had three sacks to lead ACHS along with sophomore linebacker D.J. Latino with 11 tackles. 

The Dogs dropped to 2-3 on the season and will travel to St. John this Thursday at 7 p.m. for their district opener.  The game will be on KKAY 1590 AM and globalradiokkay.com with pregame at 6:45 p.m.  Troy LeBoeuf and Larry Dunn will call the action.
