ACHS Boys’ Basketball beats Ascension Christian in District Play

The ACHS Bulldogs beat District 9A newcomer Ascension Christian 60-44 in Donaldsonville this past Friday night.  The Dogs and Lions went back and forth in the 1st half and ACHS held a 28-26 lead at the half. 

ACHS came out in the third quarter and outscored Ascension Christian 17-6 behind some strong defensive play and great passing.  ACHS pushed the lead to 25 with 3 minutes to go before giving way to their reserves and cruised to a 16 point win.  Freshmen Delmond Landry had a monster game with 20 points, 17 rebounds and three blocks.  Freshmen Jeremy Jones followed with 17 points, 5 blocks and 4 steals.  Freshmen Jaquil Wade had his best offensive performance in some time with 9 points and 4 steals.  Junior Thomas Gros had six points followed by Junior Oliver Joseph with 5.  Freshmen point guard Patrick Butler had two points and five assists.  Freshen DeAndre Francis rounded out the scoring with 1 free throw.  ACHS went to 8-10 on the season overall and 2-2 in District 9A.  The Bulldogs have an important district game at home this week as they entertain St John on Friday.  Game times start at 6 p.m with the Girls’ varsity.
