Brusly bruises Tigers

The DHS football team (1-9) finished the season much like it started it, with a loss. In its final home game and senior night, the Tigers were bruised by the Brusly Panthers (7-3) in a 54-8 route.

The Tigers tried a little trickery to start the game off by kicking an onside kick and recovering the ball. However, the joke was on them because on their first offensive possession after recovering the kick, quarterback Leondre James fumbled the ball and the Panthers recovered and took the ball back. Things went downhill from there for DHS.

The Panthers pounded the ball at the Tiger defense until it couldn't take no more.

On the offensive side, James was able to finish the night with 138 yards passing a touchdown and an interception. His touchdown pass went to freshman receiver Stephen Sullivan who finished the night with four catches for 62 yards.

On the defense side of the ball, DHS's Marcquize Zeno fought hard in his last home game of his Tiger football career. He was able to intercept Brusly's Jay Christophe just before the first half ended to fire his team up heading into the locker room.

DHS will play its final game of the season at Saint James Friday night and kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
