Lady Bulldogs take big loss to White Castle

The ACHS Lady Bulldogs were bullied in the 78-51 loss to White Castle Friday. White Castle’s guard Shylar O’Bear had her way against the Lady Bulldogs lighting up the scoring sheet for 23 points and 12 assists. ACHS had been having some off the court issues and still haven’t gotten their groove back, according head coach Shawancy Joseph.

“We lost one of our players and the mental aspect of it, the girl’s didn’t know how to handle it,” Joseph said about the team’s sloppy performance. “Mentally-wise the team wasn’t prepared for it. We tried to rebound from that loss, but we couldn’t.”

A few games ago, one of Joseph’s players had some issues and the team took a hit from it Joseph said. She said she just hopes the team learns from that experience.

“You can’t just depend on one person to do everything,” Joseph said. “It’s a team sport, so you have to play as a team.”

The unnamed player is back now and Joseph believes the team can get it back together and make a run in the playoffs. However, the blow-out loss to White Castle was a surprise because the team lost to them earlier in the season by only nine points in a “hard-fought game.

“We still have a chance at playoffs,” Joseph said. “We had it before our last two district games where we slacked off. We going to make the playoffs, just hopefully we can put it all together and make a good run.”

The Lady Bulldogs play their next game at home against West St. John for Senior Night on Feb. 8. Game starts at 5.
