Donaldsonville High School senior wide receiver Leondre James verballey committed early to the Tulane University football team. James, who started at quarterback for the Tigers last season, said his decision was fairly easy.

“The staff have been talking to me since my sophomore year and once they offered me I decided to commit early,” James said.

James also mentioned former DHS star Devon Breaux, who signed to run track and play football for the Greenwave in 2012.

“We’ve been playing together since we were young,” James said about Breaux.

James will move from behind center and lineup on the outside for Tulane at the wide receiver position. A position he is much more comfortable with. As a sophomore James accumulated over 1,100 yards on 76 catches. James said he should be able to have an immediate impact as receiver for the Greenwave.

“That’s what I’ve wanting,” James said.
