ACHS’ Delmond Landry was named boys’ District 8-1A MVP and First Team All-District in 2014.

Seventeen players from both Ascension Catholic High and Donaldsonville High boys’ and girls’ basketball teams were named to the all-district teams and honorable mentions teams in each respective district.

Headlining the 8-1A district for the Bulldogs’ basketball team was junior Delmond Landry who was named MVP of the league and First Team All-District after leading ACHS to a 14-16 record, a second place finish in the district at 6-4. Landry averaged 23.7 points per game, 17.5 rebounds and 4.2 blocked shots.

Atop the 9-3A district for the Tiger’s basketball team was senior Jermial Jones who was named Co-MVP of the league and First Team All-District, leading DHS to be named Co-District champions with a 7-1 record. The Tigers advanced to the semifinal round of the LHSAA 3A playoff bracket with a 23-9 record.

Other First Team All-District players are: ACHS’ Rae’ Shaun Malancon in girls’ basketball, ACHS’ Kaleb Winchester in boys’ basketball, DHS’ Janira Collier in girls’ basketball and DHS’ Stephen Sullivan in boys’ basketball.

Second Team All-District players are: ACHS’ Jordynn Brown in girls’ basketball, DHS’ Kaylynn Foster in girls’ basketball, DHS’ Jaquel Gant in boys’ basketball and DHS’ Jalen Pedescleaux in boys’ basketball.

Honorable Mention All-District players are: ACHS’ Kyra Jones in girls’ basketball, ACHS’ Meagan Brooks in girls’ basketball, ACHS’ Daija Harvey in girls’ basketball, ACHS’ Tandym Wells in boys’ basketball, ACHS’ Gilbert Allen in boys’ basketball, ACHS’ Cleveland Fefe in boys’ basketball, and DHS’ Blair Harvey in girls’ basketball.
