LSU ranks no. 13 in AP preseason poll

BATON ROUGE -- For the 14th-straight season, the LSU football team earned preseason top-25 recognition from the AP, as the writers' poll was released Sunday afternoon.

LSU, under the direction of 10th-year head coach Les Miles, was ranked 13 in the writers' poll. The Tigers were also ranked No. 13 by the coaches on Aug. 1.

Defending national champion Florida State was ranked No. 1, while five of LSU's opponents appeared in the poll.

The 2014 season begins on Aug. 30 at 8 p.m. CT when LSU travels to Houston's NRG Stadium to face No. 14 Wisconsin. The game will be televised by ESPN.
