ACHS boys’ cross country ‘4-peats’ for state title; girls take Runner-Up

The Ascension Catholic Cross Country Team competed at the LHSAA Cross Country State Meet in Natchitoches on November 17, and the boys’ team won the state title for the fourth consecutive year. The girls’ team finished as state runner-up.
The boys’ varsity team won its fourth consecutive State Championship with three boys earning All-State Honors. Zach Capello, who won his fourth consecutive individual State Championship, led the boys with a time of 16:49. He also received Academic All-State honors on Monday for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average throughout his high school career. Jordan Zeringue finished in third place with a time of 17:16. Thomas Daigle finished in sixth place with a time of 17:53. Rounding out the team were Luke Spano in 13th place with a time of 18:22, Hayes Rousseau in 16th place with a time of 18:37, Logan Thibodeaux in 19th place with a time of 18:45 and Aaron Landry who finished in 31st place with a time of 19:57.
The girls’ varsity team won Runner-Up with two girls earning All-State Honors. Leading the girl’s team was Stephanie Breaux, winning her first individual State Championship, with a time of 19:15. Sophie Daigle finished as Runner-Up with a time of 20:13. Whitney Eure finished in 12th place with a time of 21:38, and Haley Dupre finished in 14th place with a time of 21:52. The rest of the team finished as follows: Danielle Brou finished in 16th place with a time of 21:59, Catherine Eure finished in 17th place with a time of 22:00 and Bailey LeBlanc finished in 25th place with a time of 23:03.
